Summer Camp 2020 Update

Hello Camp Challenge Family,

Covid-19 has turned our lives upside down for the last couple of months and the uncertainty surrounding how we will live our everyday lives continues.  In the latest update from our governor we were given information on how restrictions will be lifted in stages over the next few months.  The restrictions in place through July 3 do not allow us to host camps in a way that could safely offer a positive camper experience.

Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to change our camp schedule for the summer.  Camp Challenge will not be holding any camps in June and we will change our July camp structure.  Please see the camp schedule below.

July 5th-10th: Elementary (3rd – 6th grades)

July 12th-17th: Jr High (6th – 8th grades)

July 19th-24th: Sr High (8th – 12th grades)

July 26th-28th: Young Explorers (1st – 3rd grades)

If you have already signed up for a June session we will move those registrations to the corresponding July session. There are four options for your registration:

  • You can choose to keep the spot that we have reserved for your camper at a July session
  • You can choose to roll your registration over to our 2021 camp season
  • You can choose to cancel your registration and donate any payment made to Camp Challenge
  • You can choose to cancel your registration and request that we refund any payment already made

If you have already registered a camper please take the time to fill out THIS SURVEY.  It will let us know your preference on how to handle your registration.

Camper safety is never 100% guaranteed, risk of injury or sickness is a part of living life in any setting.  Covid-19 is a risk that can be mitigated in some ways and we will do everything we can to follow CDC and health department guidelines.

We NEED volunteers for our July camps.  Please come and be a part of what we do at Camp Challenge.  You can sign up on our website to serve at camp.  Gocampchallenge.com

Finally, thank you so much for your continued prayers for Camp Challenge.  We hope and pray that God will move in a powerful way this summer.  We pray that Camp Challenge will work in the lives of many this summer who need a space removed from what has become the norm over the past few months.  Also, thank you to the individuals and churches that contribute financially to the camp.  This experience has stretched many individuals and churches financially.  We are no exception, we will be stretched financially.  Your donations mean so much to us during this time.

There are still many unknowns, we hope and pray this is the last modification we have to make. We are still watching for CDC guidelines specific to overnight camps. We will certainly keep you posted if anything changes with our new summer schedule.

Sincerely,

Brian Klein

RISK-FREE REGISTRATION!

We are still accepting camp registrations in the hopes of offering our full camp schedule this summer, but if Camp Challenge determines camp dates should need to be adjusted or cancelled, registrants can request a full refund! Our regular cancellation policy still applies if camp dates are not adjusted or cancelled.

Camp Challenge hires Emily Ferrell as Assistant Director!

Camp Challenge has been seeking an Assistant Director since late last year.  There were many good candidates that showed interest in the position and we are thankful that so many people are passionate about Camp Challenge and outdoor ministry.

We are excited to announce that Emily Ferrell accepted the offer to join the Camp Challenge staff.  Emily will be focusing on taking our events to the next level. (summer camp and beyond!)

Please join us in welcoming Emily to the Camp Challenge team.

Hello friends!

My name is Emily Ferrell and I am so excited to be hired in the role of Assistant Director at Camp Challenge! I am currently in my final semester of college at Mid-America Christian University. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry Leadership with a Multidisciplinary degree in English. I have a passion for people and communication, and I can’t wait to use my skills to advance the Kingdom of God at Camp Challenge!

I was a camper at Camp Challenge for twelve years, and during that time I also served as a volunteer counselor. I can confidently say that I would not be who I am today without the ministry of camp. I am honored to be able to serve at camp in a full-time role and give back to a place that has impacted me so greatly.

A little bit about me is that I love reading, writing, and watching movies (basically anything that involves good stories and conversations)! I am a coffee enthusiast. I will drink gas station coffee, $7 lattes, and everything in between! On a typical day off you can find me in a hammock, playing games, or hanging out with friends! I love adventure, and I am so glad that God is continuing my adventure at Camp Challenge!
