Jobs Descriptions & Qualifications
Summer Staff
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary depending on the staffing needs of each camp session’s director, but will fall into Two main categories:
1. Programming:
- Co-counsel 8-12 campers per session
- Lead cabin devotions
- Lead or participate in camper activities including archery, crafts, music, field games, nature walks, paintball, etc
- Lifeguard (certification provided)
- Participate in program evaluation.
2. Facilities:
- Housekeeping
- Kitchen staff (including restocking, food service, and dish room)
- Staff and restock camp store daily.
- Help Maintain swimming pool.
- Activity set up and tear down (chairs, tables, equipment, etc.)
Qualifications
- Mature in their walk with Jesus Christ
- Passionate about outdoor ministry
- Highly responsible and teachable
- Aware of their own personality traits and how that manifest in a team setting
- Comfortable with campers of varying backgrounds and ages (1st -12th grades)
- Able to live and work in agreement with Camp Challenge’s code of conduct and core values.
- Recommended by their current pastor, bible study leader, or other mentor/spiritual advisor.
- Able to pass a criminal history background check.
Compensation
- Weekly base stipend of $300 ($325 with Lifeguard Certification-we provide certification)
- All meals provided during staff orientation and while camp is in session.
- Lodging during staff orientation and summer staff term
CIT (Counselor-in-Training)
Responsibilities
- With a co-counselor(s), supervise and mentor 6-12 campers
- Get all campers to and from activities on time
- Participate in and encourage your campers to participate in camp activities
- Spend time connecting with your campers–listen, listen, listen!
- Enforce camp policies and camper rules
- Other duties as assigned by session director
Qualifications
- Finished with at least one year of high school
- Pursuing a walk with Jesus Christ
- Able to live and work in agreement with Camp Challenge’s code of conduct and core values
- Passionate about outdoor ministry
- Highly responsible and teachable

- Recommended by their current pastor
